Friday Feeling – 25th January 2022

Last week’s away win against Blackheath by Tonbridge Juddians very clearly sets out the competitive nature of every game in National One. There are absolutely no easy fixtures in this league and Caldy has Saturday’s 300-mile journey before facing a resurgent Juddians side. That long journey could make a difference particularly when it is an early 2 pm kick off.

Tonbridge’s 6 losing bonus points show just how fine the margins have been between winning and losing and the Ravers know everything about Juddians’ spirit and determination. Earlier in the season the Kent team produced a remarkable fight back from what looked like an impossible position to narrowly lose at Paton Field 47-40. This is not going to be easy!

Head Coach Matt Cairns has selected the following squad for the away fixture against Tonbridge Juddians RFC which kicks off at 2.00 p.m. at the Slade

1.Aigbokhae 2. Hearn 3. Rushton 4. Dickinson S 5. Jones D 6. Crowe 7. Ridgway 8. Dickinson JJ 9. Murray 10. Hinchcliffe 11. Jones B 12. Titherington 13. Cartmill 14. Royle 15. Gourlay 16. Clarke 17. Higginson 18. Gerrard 19. Davidson 20. Barlow

For those not travelling to Kent there is an exciting Saturday afternoon of rugby at Caldy. For what may be a first for Caldy there is a top-class game of Rugby League being played at Paton Field when North Wales Crusaders take on Hunslett RLFC in the Rugby League Challenge Cup. https://caldyrugbyclub.com/2022/02/north-wales-crusaders-heading-to-caldy/

This promises to be a real cross border cracker of a game of Rugby League (Admission £10 – Under 16s free) and should stoke up some Wales v England rivalry ahead of the 4.45 kick off for the televised England v Wales Six Nations match which will be shown in the clubhouse.
