Caldy Touch – 2023 Season, so far!
Competitive Touch is growing at Caldy both at local levels and in the England Touch National Series.
In 2023, Caldy Touch has seen players not just representing at Club level but at Regional level too.
In May, players made the North-West Men’s 45s & 50s, Women’s 40s and Men’s 30’s squads and played against other regional teams at the ETA’s (England Touch Association) Nationals in Nottingham.
This was a massive moment for the club, demonstrating our player’s development and ability to play on a bigger stage. The Nationals is a gateway to England representation, so hopefully, in the future, we may have one of our own playing for England!
NW Seniors & Masters Category
Mark Dean, Gill Griffiths, Zara Hansen, Mark Rainer, Claire Clark, Alex Dillon, Caroline Prosser, Connor Windell, Shaun Thomas, Ed Mawdsley and Coach (W40s) Andy Sharpes.
Recently selected to train and represent the NW Juniors is Ollie Smith, a fantastic achievement.
Women’s Wirral League
Another brilliant season in this year’s Women’s Wirral League, finishing top in every round of the league to become overall winners. The standard of Touch is growing each year, with teams really improving, creating a competitive and enjoyable league.
ETA Mixed National Touch Series
This year was the first time Caldy Cobras went to the England Touch National Touch Series held this year at Burton RFU. This is where we play established and developing Touch teams from around the country. It was a fantastic experience for Cobras. What is brilliant about Mixed Touch is that players of all ages, mothers and sons and husband and wife, all play as one unit. It was great to see. One of our games was lived broadcasted!
Touch Training is on Tuesday’s 7 pm and is open to anyone – we would love to see more players, new to Touch or returning all welcome.
