Max Hendry – Caldy Inspiration

Max is one of our U16 players. In May of last year, he was diagnosed with a brain tumour, and has endured surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy at Alder Hey and Christie’s in Manchester.

On Sunday, Max returned to training after an absence of almost 9 months and slotted straight back in with his teammates. His head coach Mike Fletcher had this to say:

“Max was a great member of the squad prior to his illness and over the last 9 months, he has been a true role model in terms of how to deal with adversity. He kept in touch with the lads, came to watch matches when he was able and given it’s pretty difficult to get an emotional reaction from 15-year-old boys, his reintroduction to squad training on Sunday was fantastic. Welcome back Max, you’ve been an absolute star and I can’t wait to see you play again”

The whole club is immensely proud of him and we are so delighted to have him back in claret, black and gold.
