Preview Caldy 2nd xv v Fylde 2nd xv

Caldy’s highly successful 2nd xv take on Fylde’s 2nd xv at Paton Field on Saturday in a fixture which is always highly competitive and closely fought. Bizarrely this is the first fixture between the sides this season with the return fixture at the Woodlands in a couple of weeks’ time.

Caldy sit at the top of the Halbro North West Premier league with a perfect record of 78 league points from 13 bonus point wins from 13 games and a positive points difference of 334 points.

Second placed Lymm having played one game more are 19 league points behind Caldy with a positive points difference of 39 points.

Caldy’s ebullient forward’s coach Christian Jones doesn’t expect league standings to have any bearing on the outcome of tomorrow’s game. “It is always very competitive against Fylde, they play a great brand of rugby and they will absolutely love the opportunity to spoil our record on our pitch. We have to do everything we can to make sure that just doesn’t happen.”

Caldy’s match day squad is boosted by the return to action of powerful centre Tommy Banks who has been out since the early part of last season with a serious long term injury and flanker Callum Ridgway who suffered a bad leg injury in the early part of the season.

Caldy’s squad for the match which kicks off at Paton Field at 2 p.m. is

1. Rob Harman, 2. Joe Sanders, 3. Tom Clarke, 4. Fraser Smale, 5. Ryen Spencer -Wolf, 6. Ty Adams, 7. Callum Ridgway, 8. Dave Jones, 9. Liam Issacs, 10 Jacob Ainscough, 11. Tom Cornall, 12.
