Light winds, sunny intervals with no chance of rain is the perfect weather forecast for…

Caldy – That Friday Feeling 14th March ’25
It should be Springtime but the current weather pattern is as bleak and barren as Caldy’s fixture list. There are no games for Caldy tomorrow. The last Championship league fixture at Paton Field was 18th January when the Ravers overcame a good Nottingham side. The next 1st xv fixture at Paton Field is Saturday week, 22nd March when Caldy take on Chinnor in a hugely important fixture.
How any rugby club can build momentum on and off the pitch when the league fixtures are so sporadic and disjointed is questionable, when that rugby club is one of the smallest in the top 4 divisions of English Rugby it is just that much harder.
Caldy depends massively on its strong home support to maintain its Championship status but the haphazard nature of the Championship fixture list breaks up the habit for supporters who in the absence of regular league rugby understandably fill in with other more predictable past times. Something has to change.
This coming Monday the RFU’s ‘National Engagement Roadshow’ touches down at Liverpool St Helens RUFC from 7pm – 9pm and representatives from Caldy will be present to air their views to Bill Beaumont and Bill Sweeney. Bookings for this in-person event are now closed but if you have any views or questions you wish to be raised on your behalf then please email our Club Secretary – [email protected]
