Conversions: Bazalgette 8, 13, 57, 67, 76

Caldy ….……… 22 pts
Tries: Gallagher 33, 42; Hyde 50
Conversions: Wilkinson 34, 51
Penalty: Wilkinson 40+1

Openside Harry Short scored two tries in a man-of-the-match showing to help Hartpury fight back and maintain their unbeaten streak at home this season.
Alongside Short’s double, playmaker Harry Bazalgette didn’t miss a kick to score 13 points from the tee with the Gloucestershire side moving up to fourth in the table.
Hartpury head coach Mark Cornwell was full of praise to both sides, and told TRP: “I’m happy we got the five points, as it’s a good way to finish before Christmas and that was our aim. We know how difficult Caldy are as a side, because they stay in the fight, they’re scrappy and if we’re not accurate it invites them in to the game, and that’s exactly what happened.”

With the Hartpury University based ground basking in some festive sunlight, it didn’t take long for the home side to open the scoring with some slick passing resulting in Short bundling over the try line by the right post on the seventh minute.Less than five minutes later and the home side doubled their lead with lock Dale Lemon being helped over the whitewash in similar fashion.
Caldy fought back, with talisman hooker Matt Gallagher dotting down from a driving maul before more pressure in Hartpury’s territory led to fly-half Kieran Wilkinson scoring a penalty kick before the break.
The Cheshire side’s increased tempo paid dividends; Gallagher scored his second just minutes after the restart to put the visitors ahead.
The pendulum had swung with the visitors as Charlie Hyde placed the ball in near enough the same spot as their last try – providing his side with a 22-14 advantage.
Some confident Ravers play saw scrum-half Ollie Wynn chip over the top, gathered by openside Dan Owen, and fullback Charlie Hyde diving over.
Hartpury rallied, winger Jake Morris dashed over on the cusp of the hour, and an overthrown Caldy line-out throw allowed Short to put the home side back ahead.
Ravers’ replacement Nathan Rushton saw yellow in the final minutes before prop Archie McArthur muscled over to complete Hartpury’s victory by the left post.

Caldy coach Matt Cairns said: “The scoreline doesn’t reflect the game. Two good teams having a go, evenly matched, and we were in control at one point in the second-half but we coughed up some errors and Hartpury took full advantage.”

Stockport u17s Junior Colts ……. 22 pts
Caldy u17s Junior Colts …..……. 34 pts

Second win in a row for Caldy Junior Colts away at Stockport. The boys, wearing a different kit due to a “ kit malfunction ( someone forgot the whole team kit at home ..) started a little slow and were trailing 17-5 and then 17-12 at half time . They turned the intensity up by a few notches and played some controlled quality rugby in the second half, containing their talented backs and dominating their powerful pack.
Now joint third placed in the league and next up a home game on Sunday 4th January v Kirkby Lonsdale.
