Caldy – That Friday Feeling 23rd May ’25

Caldy’s match day squad for the penultimate match of the season against London Scottish will be leaving Paton Field at or around 7 am for the journey to the RAG. In what has been a tough run in for the Ravers Caldy’s Head Coach Matt Cairns will be choosing from a patched-up squad after last week’s tough encounter against the League Champions Ealing. “We were disappointed to go in 0-12 down at half time last week after dominating most of the first 40 minutes. Fair play to Ealing though as they stepped it up in the second 40 minutes but the final score of 7-34 didn’t truly reflect the game. We have been improving throughout the season and we now have two big games to end the season, tomorrow away against London Scottish at the RAG and next week at Paton Field against Bedford Blues”

The famous London Scottish club boasts the proud record of having more former Scotland players, some 222, amongst their alumni than any other club including such famous names as Alistair McHarg, Ian Smith, Kenny Logan. Today their most celebrated member is former Scotland International and current Director of Rugby, Bryan Redpath with their match day squad likely to feature a strong contingent from Premiership club Harlequins.

Although the Ravers have a decent record against Scottish with 3 wins and 1 draw in their 5 meetings to date, the London side are themselves in good form and the Ravers will have to be at their best to leave the capital with a result.

Matt Cairns has selected the following squad for tomorrow’s Championship fixture at the Richmond Athletic Ground against London Scottish. The Ravers’ squad includes a Championship debut for powerful back row forward Jack Wilson who has come up through the age groups in Caldy’s rugby pathway.
The match kicks off at 3.00 pm.
