NOWIRUL Bathtime Premier League Macclesfield 2nd xv ……..12pts Caldy 2nd xv ………………..64pts Caldy 2nd xv extended their unbeaten run to 123 games in all competitions with an impressive win away from home against mid table Macclesfield. Another perfect Premier League season, played 20 & won 20, amassing 120 league points, scoring 667 & conceding only 195. Caldy 2nd xv last game of this season is away next Saturday 3rd May in the Primo Drinks Cup Final to be played at New Brighton FC RU – Caldy 2nd xv v Sedgley Park 2nd xv – which kicks off at 3.45pm NOWIRUL The Bay Travel Div 3 West Caldy 3rd xv ……………………..7pts Oxton Parkonians 1st xv ….22pts Match report – Liam Devaney A weekend with no 1st xv fixture didn’t help the Rav3rs cause with a trickle down effect of players. Our 2nd xv thankfully only took 18 players in their convincing win against Macclesfield 2nd xv, which enabled us to field a squad. It was another week of scrambling to field a team for the management team. It showed against a well drilled, settled and passionate Oxton Parkonians team, however our lads dug deep, showed grit and determination to win the 2nd half 7-3. In a cruel twist of fate, Oxton Parkonians have not been promoted in 2nd place as we all thought. Wallasey have gained promotion due to their head to head record against Parkonians. We wish Ellesmere Port and Wallasey well in their new league next season and look forward to another brilliant home and away fixture against Parkonians. This coming weekend sees the Rav3rs take on Marple 1st xv in the Bowl Final, with what seems to be another tough week for fielding a squad of 20 due to a handful of missing players and no Sale dual registration players in the 1st xv squad. ![]() ![]() ![]() Caldy Rav3rs in action Images – Barry Macdonald – Rugby coming up next weekend : Caldy 1st xv at Paton Field Saturday 3rd May The Championship Caldy v Doncaster Knights kick off 3.00pm Tickets are available to buy via our club website : https://caldyrugbyclub.com/buy-tickets-membership/ Caldy 2nd xv away Saturday 3rd May Primo Drinks Cup Final at New Brighton FC RU Caldy v Sedgley Park kick off 3.45pm Caldy Rav3rs away Saturday 3rd May Primo Drinks Bowl Final at New Brighton FC RU Caldy v Marple kick off 12.45pm – u18 Cheshire Plate Final Caldy u18s Senior Colts ……. 27pts Sale FC u18s Senior Colts …..20pts Match report – Mike Clarke For their final match together as a squad the Senior Colts, majority of whom have been at the club since u6 / u7’s, travelled to Macclesfield to face Sale FC on a rock hard pitch with a swirling breeze in the sunshine with 19 lads, 4 of whom were in the dugout injured leaving us without any subs. Some early pressure from Sale FC was initially dealt with but a penalty was conceded on our 22 for offside in midfield and Sale FC took the lead. 0-3 (4 Mins) From the KO we regained possession and some strong carries from Natho & Tony created space for Ed, Fin & Alex to combine for Simmo to score in the left hand corner. 5-3 (11mins) Again we are forced to defend and eventually forced a knock-on resulting in a scrum in our 22. Felix made break from inside our 22, beating a few defenders before linking up with Alex near the half way and Alex cruised in under the posts, converted by Felix. 12-3 (15mins) Without much possession for a long spell, we eventually turn the ball over on our own line but are then penalised from the clearing kick and Sale FC take the points again 12-6 (22mins) With possession we look dangerous and a scrum near the touchline 40m out gives us a perfect platform to launch a strike move and Leo is put into space on the outside and finishes in field for another try, converted by Felix. 19-6 (25mins) HT With our scrum in the ascendancy and Sale FC struggling to contain our backline we looked set to take control, assuming a good start to the 2nd half. Nothing is ever so straightforward and when their winger somehow manages to volley the KO, forcing us to concede a penalty 5m out. The initial drive is dealt with but Sale FC regain possession and score a converted try. 19-13 (43mins) On 45 mins we lose Ethan to a head knock & with Sale FC not obliged to match our numbers we are a man down for the remainder of the match. Fortunately (or not) we have plenty of experience from the 1/4 & semi final of playing with a man short so continued to attack until Sale FC made good use of their extra man and find some space on the edge before their big no.8 scored under the posts for a converted try 19-20 (70mins) Pressure from the resulting KO results in a charge down and another penalty. We take a tap and after 10 or more phases Simmo scores his second try in the corner, conversion missed. 24-20 (73mins) Penalties are now dictating play and we are again defending a 5m lineout. Sale FC look certain to score with a 3 man overlap before Leo shuts down the attack forcing a knock-on 10m out and we regroup again. We are continually on the defence but eventually a break by Ed, followed by another from Fin gains us a penalty on the Sale FC 22. With the clock running down Felix kicks the penalty for a final score 27-20 (80mins) These lads always entertain… The lads thoroughly deserved to finish on a high. They have been a pleasure to coach & their parents should be super proud of them all. Alex, Anthony, Felix, Fin, Leo & Natho have all played with the Senior 2’s and/or 3’s this season & have all loved the welcome they have had from the Seniors. More will surely follow into senior rugby and the lads who stay local next year should be an asset to the club. Those going further afield know they will always be welcome to make themselves available whenever they are home. Finally, many coaches have contributed to this age group and special thanks must go the Birchy, Braddy & Trence this season & Jason & Neil for earlier age groups. ![]() Caldy u18s Cheshire Plate Final winning squad – u17 Cheshire Bowl Final Caldy u17s Junior Colts ……. 73pts Sandbach u17s Junior Colts …5pts Match report – Paul Clark The Junior Colts won their first Final of the season with a resounding 73-5 victory over Sandbach in the Cheshire Bowl. It was the first time we had played Sandbach since eons of Mini Cheshire Festivals many moons ago and with Finals having an atmosphere all of their own, we asked the lads to focus on game plan and play with 100% intensity straight from the whistle. The lads duly delivered a very professional performance running in 11 tries from all over the park, through trademark forward power, scintillating backs moves with some individual brilliance sprinkled in. Pick of the tries were two stunning solo efforts from Drew Woodward and Ruben Smith who used their pace and power to run in tries from their own half. All credit to Sandbach who never gave up, battled with great heart and played some inventive rugby when they had the ball. Next Sunday the Junior Colts move onto their final game of the season – the Halbro North West League Cup Final versus our old rivals Chester. Kick off is at 3:30pm at Heaton Moor and everyone is invited to come and cheer the lads on ! ![]() Caldy u17s Cheshire Bowl Final winning squad – u13 Cheshire Shield cluster Finals Caldy u13s ……….. 60pts Macclesfield u13s …5pts and Caldy u13s ……….. 50pts Sale u13s …………..10pts Another two very impressive wins in the u13s Cheshire Shield cluster Finals for future Ravers.
