Lymm arrived at Paton Field with a strong, confident squad and opened the game brightly.
Their backs looked sharp and asked early questions of the Caldy defence, but the home side stood firm to lead 17–0 at half‑time.
After the break, Caldy shifted up a gear.
A plethora of second‑half tries pushed the scoreline out of reach, with Caldy’s defensive line remaining unbroken throughout.
Lymm battled hard and never dipped in effort.
When the final whistle sounded, the scoreboard read: Caldy 2nd xv 46 – 0 Lymm 2nd xv.
A commanding performance and a place in the final.
Caldy 2nd xv will now face local rivals Chester 2nd xv in the Barry Allen Memorial Cup Final on 2nd May — a fitting showdown for a trophy that means so much to the club and community.
A massive well done to both the squad & the coaches !

Sunday 8th March – Halbro NW Senior Colts League A
Caldy u18s ……………………. 14 pts
Wilmslow u18s ………………. 20 pts
Report thanks to Paul Clark
Last Sunday the Senior Colts welcomed Wilmslow to Paton Field. Wilmslow have been a fine team since u7s, they were League leaders and in the semi finals of the National Cup. The Colts were severely depleted due to injuries and down to just a squad of 16, but having beaten Wilmslow twice this season, we knew a titanic battle lay ahead.
The Colts tore into Wilmslow from the off, using their weight and height advantage in the pack to dominate the set piece. Wilmslow refused to engage in the lineout nullifying our rolling maul. Caldy dominated the opening exchanges, eschewing penalty kicks at goal, gambling for the tries. After 12 minutes the gamble paid off with Matti Sangare scoring from an inventive 3 man line out. Jamie Arista kicked the conversion. 7-0.
Wilmslow bounced back, scoring a try against the run of play, but failing to convert. Caldy piled the pressure on again with Tom Hazleton eventually scoring on the stroke of half time. Conversion good and 14-8 at the break.
The second half was more of the same – Caldy bringing their forward might to bear, without being able to convert – Wilmslow with their fast backs looking lively, but without much ball. Sadly for the Colts, Wilmslow broke away twice in the final quarter to score two backs tries , the last with 5 minutes to go and taking Wilmslow to a 20-14 lead. The Colts battled back and were camped on Wilmslow’s line for the last 2 minutes forcing them to concede a number of penalties, but couldn’t cross the whitewash.
So a loss, but the coaches were incredibly proud of the effort and performance that all 16 lads put in – we couldn’t have asked for anything more.
