It is with great regret we have to inform you all of the passing of Richard Williams aka Dick Willy.
Richard was a larger than life character, who joined Caldy in the early 1970’s after his club Old Birkonians folded, like many local old boys clubs in the Wirral they chose to go open due to declining numbers.
Richard was an outstanding Prop who enjoyed the occasional drink and smoke. He became a stalwart of Caldy both on and off the field and went on many tours with the Vets. He eventually joined the Last of the Summer Wine, until his health failed him. He had been house bound for the last few years but still organised his table at every Caldy home game and was still active at the last Past Players in May.
Dick Willy was well known for his unique hospitality at the rugby club – especially his famous punch served up in April 2000 !

Everyone from Caldy will remember him.
The song ” I Did It My Way” by Frank Sinatra sums up his life perfectly.
Our sincere condolences go to all his family & close friends.
We will advise the funeral venue, date and time when confirmed.
