It is with deep regret that we have to report the passing of Olly Farrall.
Olly captained the Old Caldeians 1st xv in 1963-4.

Olly was also the club Fixture Secretary from the late 1950’s until the 1970’s, when the Fixture Secretary was one of the most important roles in the club, maintaining and improving the fixtures which were planned up to 5 years in advance. He was instrumental in improving the fixture list – getting fixtures in the Midlands, clubs like Stoke, Stafford, Derby, Newbold on Avon, Burton, Wolverhampton and many more.
Olly also organised tours to Ireland, Scotland and Wales where the club met and made many new friends. He was also involved with the Merseyside Sevens teams and getting 32 teams to come every season. Olly was well known by all the local teams in Cheshire, Lancashire and even into the Midlands in his role as Old Caldeians and Caldy RFC Fixture Secretary.
Olly continued to play for the lower teams well into his 30’s joining the vet’s side. He continued to support the club into his 80’s until his health prevented him to come up. However he did see the club reach the Championship which would have made him very proud of what his club had achieved. He celebrated his 90th birthday earlier in the week
Our condolences go to his wife Caroline and his daughter Liz and son Richard who also played for the club. We will advise members when we know details of his funeral.
