Community Rugby – Festivals & Tours
Last Sunday was the start of this season’s rugby festivals with the Cheshire RFU Kids First non-competitive Minis Festivals for u7s – u12s. Caldy Community Rugby Club hosted the Cheshire u12s Festival at Paton Field in glorious Spring weather. Sixteen u12s squads represented Caldy, Chester, Winnington Park, Lymm, Anselmians, Broughton Park, Birkenhead Park, Northwich, Warrington, Wilsmlow, Macclesfield & Liverpool Collegiate.
Everyone played 6 games & had a brilliant day of mini rugby. Thanks to all those who participated, supported & our LOSW grounds team, bar & catering staff, for contributing to the success of the festival both on & off the pitches.

Also a huge thank you to all our Caldy u12s coaches who helped run the festival – Allen Boyd, James Kerwick, Phil Everett, Phil Lawrenson, Angus Dinsdale & Chris Manley. Also thanks to our club referee coordinator, Phil Brown, & all the referees participating on the day.
Plus thanks to u12s Manager, Penny Brown, & all our u12s parents who volunteered before the event with communications, invitations, collecting fees, setting up the tuck shop, donating bottles for the tombola’s & all those who helped on the day greeting visitors, directing people, parking cars & running such a successful mini rugby festival.

Gates open from 9.00am & we will be welcoming 24 squads from rugby clubs across Wirral, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Shropshire & North Wales. Thanks to our Junior Rugby Festival committee and everyone involved for all your time and effort in the planning and preparations for what will surely be one of the highlights of everyone’s Junior rugby season.
This weekend will be the start of our rugby tours with our legendary Caldy Minis Tour travelling around South Yorkshire including Doncaster Knights, Sheffield, Huddersfield RUFC and our Caldy u16s touring to play Weatherby RUFC & then back via Lymm for their Cheshire u16s Bowl Final.
Also next month in separate overseas rugby tours both our Caldy u15s & Caldy u17s will be touring Italy including playing Rugby Colorno (Parma), Rugby Formigine (Modena), Rugby Valpolicella (Verona) & Verona Rugby.
