Caldy – That Friday Feeling 21st March ’25

Championship rugby is like waiting for a number 47 bus, nothing for a couple of months and then two home games in quick succession. This Saturday the Ravers are at home to Chinnor and then a week later on 29th March there is another home fixture against Ampthill.

The craziness of the Championship fixtures has left the Ravers without league matches for two months and the league season being prolonged to 31 May ! However, spare a thought for newly promoted Chinnor who have had an even more difficult time of it. Along with Cambridge, Chinnor were excluded from The Premiership Rugby Cup and the boost to their finances that home fixtures would have brought.

Chinnor who sit one place and four league points above Caldy have made a very respectable start to life in the Championship. The size of their average home crowd ranks them 3rd in Championship attendance and back in November this strong support propelled them to a 31-17 win against Caldy. The Ravers will need their home crowd to be as large, vociferous and energetic as they can be tomorrow to spur the players on for the win. Caldy have played Chinnor 5 times previously, 4 times in National 1 and the results couldn’t be closer with 2 wins apiece and 1 draw. It is certain to be a tough contest.
