NOWIRUL Bathtime Premier League Caldy 2nd xv …….. 50pts Tries: Cooke, Carroll, Lewis, Rabbette, Wilson, Chandigere, Penalty Conversions: Rabbette x 6 Penalty: Rabbette Chester 2nd xv ………………..12pts The first glorious sunny day of Spring & JJ’s Bank was filled with anticipation as both sides ran out onto perfect pitch conditions for this eagerly awaited local derby between Caldy & Chester. Caldy got off to a flying start scoring after 2 minutes but Chester battled back to keep in touch throughout the first half & then scored early in the second half to make it 19-12. But just as Chester were looking to take control of the game Caldy moved up to another level & blew Chester away scoring 31 unanswered points in the last 30 minutes. An emphatic second half team display of power, pace & precision that thoroughly entertained the crowd & no doubt delighted Caldy coaches Sooty & CJ. Caldy 2nd xv have won 18 out of 18 in the league this season & extended their lead to 27 points clear at the top, plus continue their incredible unbeaten run to 111 games in all competitions since April 2019 ! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Images – Barry Macdonald u17s Junior Colts result Cheshire Cup Quarter Final Caldy 14 – 24 Lymm After a fallow month, the Junior Colts were back at Paton Field to take on the reigning Cheshire Cup Champions, Lymm, in this year’s Cheshire Cup quarter final. Caldy were fast out of the blocks, bringing their power to bear through their forwards, dominating early doors at the set piece. After 20 minutes the Colts deservedly went ahead after a Caldy charge down from a Lymm clearance kick was gratefully dotted down by the quick thinking Luke Macdonald. Despite the pressure, the Colts perhaps didn’t convert their dominance into points, and Lymm clawed their way back into the game, winning the breakdown battle. Only a mighty defensive effort by Caldy kept the score to 7-0 at Half Time. The second half saw Lymm continue to dominate the breakdown and Caldy, with only 16 players available, started to tire as the half wore on. Lymm scored two quick tries to go 14-7 up, only for Rob Waring to capitalise on a quick tap penalty and race through from half way to bring the game level. In the final 10 minutes, Lymm’s strength in depth told, as they scored a 3rd try and a final penalty to deservedly win 24-14. The Junior Colts move onto the League Cup next Sunday and a final League game versus Chester on March 16th to determine the NW League winners, so plenty to play for in March ! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Images – Barry Macdonald Rugby coming up next weekend : Caldy 2nd xv at Paton Field Saturday 8th March Halbro NW Bathtime Premier League Caldy v Rochdale kick off 3.00pm Caldy 3rd xv at Paton Field Saturday 8th March Halbro NW The Bay Travel Div 3 West Caldy Rav3rs v Crosby St Mary’s kick off 3.00pm Caldy u17s Junior Colts at Paton Field Sunday 9th March Halbro NW Junior Colts League Cup Caldy v Liverpool St Helens kick off 12.30pm – Save the date – Saturday 14th June 2025 Caldy Rugby Club – End of Season Ball Details to follow in due course |
