Urgent Appeal to all members
Happy New Year to all of our members in all of the sections,
The new year has brought with it new challenges for Caldy Sports Club and we are asking all of our members to come together as a sporting community to help.
The high tides this week, torrential rain and snow have wreaked havoc with our land drainage system. This has been amplified by problems with the National Trust’s holding pond on the hill that has completely overflowed on to the second team pitch.
The result is that our land drain has become blocked somewhere between the start of the tracks and the stables over the road. The pressure build up has resulted in the fracturing of the drain and the whole of the bottom of the grounds becoming saturated and flooding. This has resulted in a sink hole forming and a deluge of water continuously running out on to Telegraph Road and reaching as far as Column Road affecting residents along the way.
We urgently need to clear the blockage in the land drain and effect a repair or we will have serious problems with our pitches. We need to do this now so that we can open the tracks back up before the Nottingham game on the 18th January or we will have no spectator parking that will hugely affect our income in one of the few games that we have at the start of the year.
We need your help please.
We are expecting costs of up to £10,000. If you can spare anything, please make donations to the Caldy Sports Field Trust so that we can take advantage of Gift Aid tax relief. If as many of you can contribute a small amount, we will be able to raise the funds needed.
