Caldy convincingly confirmed their position at the top of the Halbro Premier League with strong performances on both wings by Louis Beer & Will Robinson in a 31-64 victory. Even so coaches Andrew Soutar & CJ weren’t happy with the 31 points conceded which explains why these lads have gone 100+ games unbeaten ! From a photographic point of view the the light was’nt great, I’ve been in brighter caves ! Go Ravers !” Caldy 3rd xv result – Caldy Rav3rs 17 – 7 Newton-le-Willows Match report – Liam Devaney “The Rav3rs got back to winning ways with a 17-7 victory at the weekend, against a combative and direct Newton Le Willows side. It wasn’t a match for the faint hearted, but provided good entertainment for the partisan home crowd. The lads stood firm in a hard fought and physical contest, where the kitchen sink, amongst other things, were thrown at the young Rav3rs. Next Saturday sees the team travel across the Mersey to Crosby St Mary’s, for what will undoubtedly be another tough game. Can we add to the 60 players that we have fielded so far in the first 9 games of the season? If you or anyone you know fancies a run out, please get in touch with one of the coaching staff.” Images – Barry Macdonald u17s Junior Colts result – Caldy 14 – 7 Liverpool Collegiate Match report – Paul Clark “With the rain coming in torrents and the wind whistling up from the Dee, the Junior Colts ran onto the 2nd team pitch for their latest North West League A encounter with Liverpool Collegiate. Against the wind in the 1st Half, our forwards soon made quick inroads into the Collegiate defence and the Colts were soon 7-0 up thanks to Tom Hazleton touching down after a number of forward phases, and a conversion from Jamie Arista. It was then heavy work for the Colts as Collegiate pinned us in our half with some raking kicks – our back 3 did a sterling job of returning the ball in grim conditions ! Under increasing pressure, the Colts conceded just before half time and we went in 7-7. In the 2nd half, with the wind at our backs, our tactical kicking allowed us to play in Collegiate’s half. With the forwards dominant at scrum time, and powerful in the loose, we were able to edge closer to the Collegiate line, but Collegiate’s defence held out. Camped on their 5m line, a touch of brilliance from Caldy’s scrum half Dylan Jones won the game with a cross field kick of 30m to an unmarked Will Reynolds who caught the swirling ball and dotted down over the line. A tight 20 minutes followed, but good game management saw the Colts home with an important win to take us to 3rd place with a game in hand. Big credit to all the lads, but we would like to give a shout out to our immense front row of Oscar Song, Cameron Harper and Matti Sangare who battled through a full 70 minutes without a break. Onwards to Waterloo next week for another titanic battle !” Rugby coming up next weekend : Caldy 1st xv at Paton Field next Saturday 23rd November Premiership Rugby Cup Caldy v Doncaster Knights kick off 2.00pm Caldy 2nd xv at Paton Field next Saturday 23rd November Halbro NW Bathtime Premier League Caldy v Rochdale kick off 2.00pm Caldy Rav3rs away next Saturday 23rd November Halbro NW The Bay Travel Div 3 West Crosby St Mary’s v Caldy kick off 2.00pm Caldy u18s at Paton Field next Sunday 24th November Halbro NW Senior Colts League A Caldy v Knutsford kick off 2.00pm Caldy u17s away next Sunday 24th November Halbro NW Junior Colts League A Firwood Waterloo v Caldy kick off 12.30pm |
