That Friday Feeling – 22nd March 2024

Not having played for three weeks is not ideal preparation for a Championship match against Bedford at Goldington Road. This fixture again coincides with the Bedford Blues Ladies Day which will deck the ground, the spectators and many of Caldy’s travelling support in various shades of pink. To support the Bedford Ladies Day, Caldy President Graham Armitage has offered a prize of a bottle of pink fizz to the closest ‘Ken’ lookalike amongst those Caldy supporters and officials travelling with the team. This is likely to be as close a contest as the earlier fixture between the teams at Caldy’s Paton Field.

Although outscoring Bedford by three tries to two, the Ravers lost out 22-26 due to the immaculate goal kicking of Bedford’s Will Maisey who landed 16 points from the tee.

At Paton Field Caldy’s 2nd XV take on a strong Chester side in a Halbro Premier League fixture. Over recent seasons Chester have regularly provided the toughest opposition to the young Ravers and after a closely fought encounter at Hare Lane in December, Chester will be coming to end Caldy’s long unbeaten record.

Head Coach Matt Cairns has selected the following squad for Saturday’s 1st XV Championship fixture against Bedford Blues at Goldington Road with a 3 pm kick off.
