That Friday Feeling – 21st October 2022

It is ‘Friday Night Rugby’ at Paton Field this weekend, with Caldy’s 2nd XV looking to progress up the league table with a home clash against Wirral RFC. This derby clash is sure to be a competitive and perhaps feisty encounter. Three of the squad Freddie Arista, Tom Molloy and Finn Collins are making their senior debuts. They will be supported by some seasoned campaigners, including Jack Parker, Ryen Spencer Wolf, and Liam Issacs.

The clubhouse will be from 6 pm, and the match kicks off at 7.30 pm.

Tomorrow the 1st XV travel to face old foes Ampthill. Ampthill and Caldy are often bracketed together on rugby forums as perhaps the two Championship clubs that are most similar in infrastructure, league history and culture. The sides first met in National One and have always enjoyed a close rivalry and traditional camaraderie off the pitch. Tomorrow’s fixture at Dillingham Park in Bedfordshire will be another tough test for the Ravers, but it will surely be a proper rugby occasion.
