The Ravers travel to Doncaster still looking for their first win of the season. Although…
Caldy O2 Touch
On Sunday Caldy took a squad of 14 to play in an England touch roadshow in Didsbury, Manchester.
The event had 8 teams with some of the Elite squads in the area including Manchester, Wigan and Chester.
In the first game, Caldy played Manchester and quickly took a 2-0 lead with tries from Shaun Thomas and Connor Windell. In the second half, Manchester came back into it and levelled the scores and then in the last play of the game, a dubious referee decision meant Manchester scored and finished the game 2-3 to them.
The second game was against social side Old Bedians and Caldy took the frustration of the first game plus a kicking from Coach Andy Sharpes and started fast even though the torrential winds and rain had started and the pitch became heavy. Caldy went into the half time 4-1 up after a lot of well-practiced moves and clinical finishing had come together. Try of the first half was scored by Mia Gerrard after some great handling. The second half provided much the same as the first half and Caldy dominated the game finishing with a 7-2 win.
With the weather deteriorating quickly and the pitches becoming unplayable and not safe, England touch decided to cancel the rest of the event which was a shame but well received by the wet and bedraggled squads.
This is the first of a series of events for Caldy touch with the next event being held at Caldy on Friday 12th November.
