Brian Constable R.I.P

It is with deep regret I must let you all know of the passing of one of our older members, Brian Constable, Brian was an old boy of Calday School and on leaving he joined the Club. Brian played scrum Half and was a regular in the 1950’s aan 60’s He worked for Martins Bank also played for their team. When he moved nearer to Chester he joined Chester Rugby club. He played with them for a number of years and had many games against Caldy especially in their vets. He was always the first to weclome Caldy to Chester and whilst he supported them he would sit in the stand with the Caldy Supporters. He maintained his relationship with Caldy and always made the Past Players lunches with Bobby Hooks and Arthur Morgan bot of which were also Caldy Old boys. He continued to support the club and was a long standing member of the Friends of Caldy draw. He had bee unwell for the last year and died on the evening of the 27th . Our condolences go out to his wife Wendy and all his family.

We will let members know of his funeral although it will be restricted due to Covid.

Personal Memories from Ken Roberts

I am so sad to get the news of Conny’s Passing. It was not unexpected, but still incredibly sad. I met him at Calday School in September 1949 and immediately struck up a friendship with him through Sport. I loved the guy and have so many memories of our early years at the Club, with Darrell Evans, Kenny Edwards, Dia Llewellyn, Bobby Hooks and et Al. He was a wonderful, lovely and very loyal pal. I sit here today smiling to myself about some of the antics we used to get up to.

Obviously with Covid , funeral arrangements will be difficult, but if possible I would like to be involved in some way, although always respecting the wishes of the family who come first.
