Caldy 2nd XV v Sedgley Park 2nd XV (Kick Off 2.15pm)

Caldy’s 2nd xv is sitting at the top of the Cotton Trader’s Premier League with 36 points from a 6 out of 6 record. However, they will have their work cut out to maintain their perfect start to the season as they host 2nd placed Sedgley Park this weekend.

The Manchester side have 32 points from 5 wins from their 7 matches and will provide a stern challenge as Caldy’s forwards coach Christian Jones explains.

“We know that Sedge have a few 1st xv players returning from injury and we expect a few of these to feature for them on Saturday against Caldy. Their greater experience and power will be a stern test for us. We will need all the support we can get to keep this winning run going. Sedge will be very physical.”

Continuing good performances throughout the 2nd xv have made for real competition for places in the 1st xv match day squad. This week Tom Clarke and Cameron Owen, who have consistently put in top performances for the 2nd xv ,have been elevated to the 1st xv’s match day squad for the trip to Scunthorpe.

“It is highly encouraging to see Tom and Cam stepping up into this week’s 1st xv match day squad” said CJ “This is what we are working for. The gap between the players in the 1st and 2nd xv squads is narrowing all the time and giving the coaches the right type of selection headaches. “

The match kicks off at Paton Field at 2.

15 p.m. on Saturday
