The Ravers travel to Doncaster still looking for their first win of the season. Although…
That Friday Feeling
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]It is Friday once again and we have an exciting weekend ahead at Paton Field, including a club disco for friends and family on Saturday evening at 7 pm. You can pay £5 at the door if you don’t already have a ticket.
The first team have started the season well with three wins out of three and sit top of the National 2 (North) table at this early part of the season and are on the road again at Loughborough Students who currently sit eighth, six points behind Caldy. (Kick off 2PM)
Both sides were relegated from National 1 last season with the games going in favour of the home side, Caldy victorious at Paton Field in the early season 43 -19 with the Students beating an injury hit Ravers 53-19 in January.
Head Coach Matt Cairns is expecting a tough match, he said :-
“The Students have a squad of top class athletes and they play a very fast paced, high energy game which is particularly effective on their 4G pitch. They are a very well coached and motivated group of players. If the Students get on top on a dry and fast surface they can run riot. We will have to concentrate and work for the full 80 minutes if we are to come away with anything from Loughborough”.
When asked about injuries Cairns said :-
“We are carrying a few knocks and we had some concerns about Harrison, Degsy and Cam but they have all trained this week and all could figure in the match day squad”.
Loughborough have a large squad having access to the Leicester Tigers and England 7s development teams and the new intake of students to choose from.
Caldy have taken a maximum 10 points on the road this season and will be looking at last week’s league player of the week Lewis Barker and others to put in another top performance.
The second team have a rest week after having an equally good start of the season with three wins out of three and beat second placed Lymm at home last weekend to take a five point lead at the top of the Cotton Traders League.
