John Broxson best Caldy XV

We have recently spoken with John Broxson about his all-time 15 that he has played with at Caldy Rugby Club.
John played 259 games, scoring 21 tries during his time at the club.

See below for his all-time 15.

  1. Gav Woods. Great scrummager and a powerful ball carrier. His show and go was woeful, however, it worked more than once.
Ted Stagg. Hard hitting, skilful and when needed an inspirational leader. His arrows are spot on and he is a tenacious scrummager.
    3. Degsy Salisbury. We need someone in the team to get yellow cards. But, seriously, he is rugby player who does not let the number on his back define him. Very knowledgable even if he does not always articulate it in the best way.
    4. Paul White. He will win 2 ball in the lineout all day long. Hard and uncompromising: The Duke would lead from the front and set the standards in training.
    5. Paul Arnold. Ball playing second rows who score tries are like hen’s teeth. 27 tries in a season speaks volumes.
    6. Harry Broadbent. Natural athlete with an amazing vertical leap. Excellent lineout forward and fantastic in the loose.
    7. JJ Dickinson. A truly natural rugby player that has every aspect of the game within his grasp. Skilful and when required tough.
    8. Sam Dickinson. Big, powerful, and the hardest tackler known to man. He can play a bit too!
    9. John Broxson. I am not sure on the etiquette, but, I am picking myself.
    10. Jack Lavin. Skilful with an eye for a for a break. Caldy legend!
    11. Nick Royal. Need a try? This chap can score one when you need one most. Pace, guile and a great chip and chase. Don’t ask him to drop a goal.
    12. Shaun Woof. A big man in the midfield who could carry over the gain line on muddy afternoons; but more importantly could also deliver the killer pass!
    13. Gav Roberts. All-time top try scorer for the club coupled with an impressive 82% kicking record. The Welsh Wizard would be in everyone’s team.
    14. Andrew Soutar. Ingenuity and boldness hallmark Sooty and make him an exceptional player. All-time favourite rugby moment was the slider-hit try at Bedford in the play off.
    15. Ben MacPherson. Unorthodox, at times, but a game winner. Great vision and always played with an attacking mind-set.
